Canine Good Citizen

So what is Canine Good Citizen???

Well our classes are based on the KUSA Canine Good Citizen test and students are encouraged to take the test at a KUSA show once their lessons are completed.

The classes are run over an 8 week period and cover all 13 of the test topics that are covered in the Bronze category of CGC.

We try to ensure that the dogs are trained in more than one surrounding and one of the classes includes a relaxed coffee and chat with the other students while the dogs are encouraged to relax quietly by their owners sides.

Topics covered are; walk nicely on a lead; sit, lie down, stand for grooming, stay, politely meet a stranger with a strange dog, wait – don’t push past me at doors plus several others.  Dogs are also encouraged to react appropriately to distractions such as bicycles, children playing, babies in prams etc.
